Development Disasters and How to Defend Against Them

This session will address the litany of issues that have come up in failed/semi-failed land developments – half-built ghost-towns with infrastructure not completed; walking back over-promises by developers; sewer issues with incomplete developments; developers who have gone bankrupt; stormwater claims galore; and the dedication dilemma with improvements not up to snuff.

Proper Enforcement of Municipal Ordinances

This session provides an overview of issues municipal officials must face when engaging in enforcement of ordinances. Topics will include: “civil or criminal?,” searches and the Fourth Amendment, tips for issuing Notices of Violations, vested rights and other defenses and violations “each day.” The goal is to enlighten and assist zoning officials in their enforcement decisions and implementation.

A cancellation received less than 10 business days before the session you are registered for is subject to a $20 processing fee for refunds.Those who cancel within two business days of the session date or do not attend forfeit the full registration fee which, if unpaid, will be invoiced.
