9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Medical Marijuana in the Township
Adam Santucci, Esquire, McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC
You get a call from the township manager or secretary notifying you that an employee has shown up with a medical marijuana card. Now what? In this session, learn about what your township clients can and cannot do when regulating the use of medical marijuana by their employees, both on and off duty.
10:45 AM – 11:45 AM HR & Labor Update
Michael McAuliffe Miller, Esquire, Eckert Seamans
11:45 AM – 12:30 PM Lunch Break
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Flexible Zoning, Subdivision & Land Development Solutions
Esch McCombie, Esquire & Claudia Shank, Esquire, McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC
Developable land is disappearing. Meanwhile, infrastructure and buildings are aging to the point where they are inconsistent with the needs of today’s residents. The world is changing quickly, and it seems land use ordinances cannot be updated fast enough. As a result, it is necessary to employ zoning, subdivision, and land development strategies that are flexible, creative, and (at least for now) cutting edge. This session explains many of those strategies and how townships are employing them today.
1:45 PM – 2:45 PM Use of Force and Government Oversight of Police Operations
Christopher P. Gerber, Esquire & Andrew Rongaus, Esquire, Siana Law
This session will get municipal solicitors up to speed on the most current issues that involve police use of force, First Amendment rights of protestors and how solicitors can assist their clients with police department oversight.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM Open Forum on Lessons Learned During COVID-19, Recent Case and Legislative Update
Scott E. Coburn, Esquire, PSATS
In this session, municipal solicitors will share best practices for how they have navigated client issues during COVID-19. Attendees will also get an update on recent court decisions and legislation impacting townships and municipal solicitors.
