2020 Virtual Fall Solicitors Seminar - 9/8/20

In this two-hour Solicitors (Virtual) Fall Seminar, learn from experts on ways township solicitors can aid their townships unlock the value of passive public assets through solar development and about handling challenging ethics issues during these unprecedented times.

Eligible for 2 Hours CLE (1 Substantive & 1 Ethics) and/or 2 Administrative PMGA points.

1:30-2:30 - Solar Power to the People: Monetizing Passive Public Assets

This session will explain how solicitors can aid their township clients looking to partner with solar energy producers to unlock the value of “passive” public assets, such as undeveloped land holdings. Unlike prior solar development, which often required a large capital investment from the landowner, today’s model shifts such start-up costs to the producer and can provide a township with a valuable revenue stream for years to come.

2:45-3:45 - Solicitor Ethics During Challenging Times

Representing townships and municipal entities is challenging in “normal” times.  The added uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, social unrest, and quickly shifting legislative landscapes quickly adds to the mounting complexities.  This interactive one-hour ethics presentation will look at our professional responsibilities through the lens of 2020 events as they have played out from our home offices and in our virtual public meetings and remote executive sessions.
