Between June and August, PSATS will be hosting almost all of the 2020 conference workshops through its virtual classroom so that you can watch from the comfort of your home or office. Learn from experts from across the Commonwealth on an incredibly wide variety of township administration, public safety, public works and planning and zoning topics and gain valuable knowledge and insight that you can immediately put to work to benefit your townships.
For just $99, you can attend more than 60 PSATS Virtual Conference Workshops, all of which will be available live and on-demand. Members of the PSATS Municipal Government Academy will also be able to receive up to 20 PMGA points and attorneys will be able to receive CLE credits for many of the workshops.
|Each registration for the PSATS Virtual Conference Workshops event must be linked to a unique email address. When you register for the PSATS Virtual Conference Workshops, PSATS will provide you a coupon code that you must input when you register for each individual virtual workshop. Or, if you are interested, you can also purchase individual virtual workshops at a member price of $20 per workshop ($30 for non-members).

Today's recreation customers want a diverse range of facilities and programming. Most communities, however, cannot meet these needs on their own so some are opting to form public and private partnerships to enhance programming. This workshop will provide examples of how communities are using partnerships to increase offerings, resources, and audiences. This primer on municipal environmental requirements will highlight recent regulatory and judicial developments in such areas as MS4 and stormwater management, Pennsylvania's Environmental Rights Amendment, clean water and Chesapeake Bay requirements, and waste management. Attendees will get practical advice on how to work with regulatory agencies and avoid compliance issues.

Beginning with an overview of the Second Class Township Code requirements for bidding, this session will cover some "Best Practices" geared at creating conditions that attract more competent bidders and competitive pricing. Updated to reflect trends and issues encountered over the past year, and following analysis of thousands of public projects in Pennsylvania, this session will offer valuable tips and tricks that produces real results when bidding projects.
Stormwater BMP Inspections - Virtual - 8/24/20Contains 4 Component(s), Includes Credits
Is your township responsible for operating and maintaining stormwater best management practices (BMPs) or is it enforcing the operations and maintenance (O&M) of BMPs by private property owners? This workshop will provide the steps to help local officials develop an effective inspection program. Attendees will walk away with a clearer understanding of BMP types and components, how to develop inspection protocol and procedures, and how to get private property owners to comply with local regulations.

Residential traffic management issues continue to evolve. Approaches and tools adopted several decades ago are often insufficient to meet today's needs. This session will review lessons from 20-plus years of traffic calming, discuss key changes that affect how we approach traffic challenges, and consider new practices. (Note: The workshop presumes the audience is familiar with traffic calming and will include only a brief overview of specific measures.)
